Corrupt by Penelope Douglas (Devil's Night Series) Book Review
Having read a ton of dark romance books, I was begging for more. I stumbled across Penelope Douglas, and I was already intrigued by one of her book, Bully. But I still haven’t had the chance to read it yet.
After finishing the Royal Elite series and Kingdom Duet by Rina Kent, I saw Corrupt as a recommendation. After reading the snippet on GoodReads, I was immediately hooked. I wanted to know the dirt that landed Michael’s friends in prison and see the obsession Erika had for Michael.
Would’ve finished this book in one sitting but let’s say it was 4 am, and I was exhausted. But the minute I woke up, I turned on my Kindle and continued reading.
In case you want to read the others, I have my book reviews down below for you to check out:
Hideaway (book two) -- Kai and Banks
Kill Switch (book three) -- Damon and Winter
Nightfall (book four) -- Will and Emory
Corrupt is a dark / bully romance, meaning there are tons of morally grey situation evolving around the relationship of the characters. If this is a trope you love, you can check out more dark /bully romance books I’ve read and review here!

Corrupt
The world wanted Rika and Trevor to be together, but little did they know that her heart already belongs to someone else, his brother Michael. As she moved to a different college and isolates herself from her family and friends, she sets in motion the plan of the four horsemen’s vengeance. The horsemen were notorious for wreaking havoc, especially on Devil’s Night.
The night that set her free. Rika needed to escape the safe environment that she was trapped in; she wanted and needed more.
“That night three years ago…” I began, speaking softly, “I felt so alive. I needed the chaos and the anger, and you guys seemed exactly the same. It was a really good feeling not to be alone anymore.”
But before that night could come to an end, a turn of events shifted everything for her and the four horsemen. Three years later, Rika moved to the city where she thought she would be alone. Instead, she was surrounded by the same horsemen, but this time, they wanted revenge for the hell she put them through.
As much as Michael tried to stay away, he was constantly pulled in by her. He loved the chase, the game, the challenge. Michael had her playing his games long before she even knows it. But before he figured it out, he was playing hers as well. Michael has finally met his match. But will he choose her or his fellow horsemen?
Corrupt is filled with suspense uncovering the past and present events. Find out who is corrupting who! Corrupt is a standalone. However, it belongs in a series: Devil's Night.
