I am so excited to share this week's book talk with y'all! I started the Beautiful series because of a recommendation from a follower on Instagram when she noticed that I was reading the After series! This is the classic young adult books that I love.

Beautiful Disaster
First, WOW! Do not read the reviews (haha funny since I am currently writing one). It's better than I expected but I am a softy for all young adult books about disastrous relationships. I love how romance books are no longer happily ever after. Real-life is messy and I think that's why I love books like this!
Starting off, I was thrown off by the main characters -- Abby and Travis. Most books will have it as the girl being smart, innocent, and native. While the boy is well a "bad boy". But Jamie McGuire has it where Travis is the genius and Abby is a bit devious with her past. I love that change -- it's different. Usually, the girl is the one trying to tame the bad boy. Granted, still the concept of the book but it's more so Abby is trying to prevent history from repeating itself.
The life that Abby try to escape was cast from the shadow of her father: Mick. Mick Abernathy was pretty much Midas in the poker world. Whatever he touches turns to gold until the day Abby turned thirteen where supposedly he lost his touch and Abby became the lucky one. Mick stated in an interview that it was her that stole his luck. Abby was stuck in a world full of gamble, drunks, and mobsters.
She came to Eastern to escape that life where her best friend, America, states dating Shep who is the cousin to Travis. It all started when they locked eyes at his fight. At first, they were friends. Of course, there was this connection/attraction. They couldn't be apart. No matter the challenges.
Like any relationship, they had the up and downs. But it was more intense than most couples. However, their love conquered all: fights, others, Vegas, gambling, fire. They overcame it all. The end was had me smiling cheek to cheek the whole time! THEY GOT MARRIED! Granted, they don't know each other long but when you know you know! I am excited to read the next book and see Travis’s side of the story!
Walking Disaster
Wow, I just finished the book and I am smiling cheek to cheek! At first, I didn't realize how repetitive this was going to be in comparison to the first book -- which is the reason why it took me a bit longer to finish up. Granted a couple of days to read a book is still pretty fast for some people haha.
Being able to see into Travis's mind was key! It was the missing piece of the whole story. I am so glad Jamie wrote this book! Even though it was a bit repetitive, definitely worth it in my opinion. I never noticed how much Travis loved Abby. Even at first, he was hinting it to her big time and she just brushed it off in the first book.
The ending was perfect! The last chapter was much needed -- it was the piece that I wanted. Book One was a cliff-hanger and Book Two just summed it right up. In the epilogue, I was surprised that Travis became an FBI Agent and come to learn that Thomas was one, too -- which makes sense why he was always focused on the details and spotted that Abby was the daughter of Mick Abernathy. I love how the epilogue was all about the next few chapters in the lives. That Abby and Travis remained together for 11 years and have kids!!!! Ahhhhh, happily ever after!
Despite the reviews, I would recommend this series to all my Young Adult lovers like me. It will have you smiling cheek to cheek!!
A Beautiful Wedding
This was a pretty short book, finished within an hour or two. It filed us in to the details of the Vegas wedding and prior to the vow renewal in St. Thomas.
The book share what Abby was going through prior to the impromptu wedding. She was just scare and was trying to do whatever she can to protect Travis.
However, I personally don’t think this was quite necessary. Granted I did read the Maddox Brothers Series before reading this so it felt repetitive to me.
