The Villain

Oh wow, I have seen so many people recommending The Villain and I never understand the hype. I have been putting this off for the longest time.

I started reading this on my Kindle at 11 PM and did not realize the time until 6 AM; literally in one sitting and forgot about sleep. Let's just say putting the book down was impossible. It was so good! If you are hesitant to read this, do yourself a favor and just read it, haha.

In case you want to read the others, I have my book talk posts down below for you to check out!

Cillian “Kill” Fitzpatrick was a cold-hearted piece of perfection. With no emotions, everything he did was calculated and callous. Cillian was a billionaire that had everything. Expect the one person he laid eyes on years ago. Persephone Penrose. She is soft and sweet but tough when needed to be. She had a heart so pure and a force to be reckoned with.

“‘I wish you’d fall in love with me so hard you won’t be able to think about anything else. To eat. To breathe. When my Aunt Tilda died, she granted me one miracle. This is the wish I choose. Your love. There’s a world beyond your ice walls, Cillian Fitzpatrick, and it is full of laughter and joy and warmth.’ I took a step in his direction, my knees wobbling. ‘I’m going to pay back your favor. I’m going to save your life in my own way.’”

The minute she laid eyes on him, she knows she loved him. But he was without emotions, especially love. He rejected her, pushed her away into another man’s arm. For years, she was out of sight but never out of his mind. Until one day, she appeared at his office seeking help. A relationship between the two formed, but instead of emotions, it was with a contract.

“‘Why do you hate me?’ I whispered. Tears blurred my vision, but I refused to let them fall. ‘Hate you?’ He wiped the tears with the back of his hand. ‘I have no feelings, Persephone. Not for you. Not at all. I am incapable of hating you. But I will also never, ever love you.’”

For a man who lacks emotions, reading The Villain fills you with all of them, from joy to sadness, disappointment to anger; we experienced it all. I truly love the story of Cillian and Persephone. I loved the flawed characters and the layers of plots that kept me wanting more!

“My soul is yours. No terms attached. Let me know if you have any conditions for keeping it. I will meet them all. Cillian”
