Beautiful Oblivion

Still hung up on the love story of Abby and Travis — this book filled in so many gaps that I didn’t know was missing haha! Cami and Trenton was the next best thing. To see the Maddox brothers pretty much the same: good fighter, tatted up, mischievous side, but a big heart and cares so deeply! Trenton and Travis are so much alike but not at the same time.

In the book, Trenton has a softer side: his care for a little girl named Olive. Their relationship will have you grinning from cheek to cheek! It was nice to see that side of him and I know it helped bridge the relationship between his and Cami.

With the start of the book, I never understood why Cami was in a relationship with TJ — especially since he lived in California and kept canceling on her. I was so happy when Trenton came into her life and charm his way in! Of course, he fell for her instantly (granted, he loved her since they were kids “supposedly”). Despite Cami’s family drama and past, Trenton brought it upon himself to be her protector — which made Cami love him even more.

Chapter after chapter, snippets of Abby and Travis's story came into the story and provided a different side to their story. The part that has me going crazy: the reason why Abby asked Travis to marry her! Granted, she does love him but from the call between her and Trenton, it seems as if she did it as a cover story to get Travis off the fed’s scent from the burning at Keaton. I thought it was the cutest, spontaneous thing ever when she proposed — she probably did mean it but a part of that proposal was to save Travis. Which is still sweet and caring but I’m sure if Travis finds out, he’ll be hurt. Anyhoo, back to Cami and Trenton.

Throughout the book, TJ would find his way into their relationship and I just thought he wanted Cami back. You don’t appreciate what you have until you lose it kind of thing, right? That’s what I was thinking. Until the end, when Trenton and Cami got into that wreck. Supposedly this secret that Cami has been carrying around was finally out in the open. But not to us reader. So frustrating haha! It ended with “Thomas James Maddox”. As in TJ... THOMAS JAMES... TJ?!?! I guess we won’t know until book two. Haha, brb. Gotta read book two now lol!

Beautiful Redemption

beautiful redemption

I can't believe I read this in about 12 hour-ish. I told myself I would read a bit before bed -- which turned into me staying up until 2:30 am and finishing in the morning.

It filled in the gap of Abby and Travis's one-year vow renewal which lead back to the incident at Kenton. Travis found out that Abby married him to protect him, but that led to him having a tough choice: prison time or joining his brother Thomas and lying to Abby. Liis was brought on Thomas's team because she was the best and became a part of the case that led to the whole "Travis joining the feds" dilemma. It also continues the story of Cami and Trenton -- finally proposed to her only after his embarrassing dance to Brittany Spears in a Speedo.

However, Cami becomes the fault point in Liis and Thomas's relationship. I don't blame Liis for not wanting to jump into a relationship with Thomas. I wouldn't want my man to be stuck up on his ex and supposedly finding me as a distraction. Knowing Cami's and Thomas's history, I get why she hesitated. Heck, the whole world was walking on eggshells when they were around. So I can't imagine how Liis felt especially finding herself liking him more than expected.

Granted, Thomas kept fighting and telling her he has moved on and that she is the only person he has ever loved more. I thought after the undercover wedding that they would be a couple for once but the minute he called Liis "Camille", my jaw dropped and I was personally pissed from that. I feel that that was the nail on the coffin. After weeks of avoidance, they finally found their way back to each other to end up getting shot by the traitor Grove.

Fast forward to the capture of Benny (or his death), we go to find out the Liis finally got the job she wanted and moved into the suburb expecting her first child with Thomas. There was no mention of marriage... at least not yet, there are still 3 more books to the series. But Thomas finally returned home to spend the rest of the pregnancy with Liis and start his new job. Liis mention to us that she knew that Abby will be giving information on her dad, Mick, to Travis at the end of the anniversary in exchange for protecting Travis and bringing him home. But she didn't mention it to Thomas as his mind was wandering off and feeling guilty about what has happened.

After reading the Beautiful Series and now two out of five books in this series, I have come to realize that this is all one big story with so many points of view. Clever! I have to admit, Jamie McGuire knows what she is doing. You can't read one and not read the others! I guess it's time to read book three haha!! Until next time!

Beautiful Sacrifice

beautiful sacrifice

In a way, I thought I had the love story of Falyn and Taylor figured out. "Typical Maddox brother chases after a girl that is hard to charm". That storyline is true haha -- true to the story of Travis, Trenton, and Thomas; so why wouldn't it be true to hotshot Taylor.

However, Fayln's story caught me off guard. My first theory to her connection to Eakins was that she was the driver who killed Olive's brother in Book One with Trenton. But we go to find out that she is the mother to sweet little Olive -- whom she gave up because of the pressure of her parents. Of course, Fayln regrets that decision and does everything possible to see Olive and have one memory with her.

Which by fate, Taylor Maddox walks right into her life. Being a Maddox, he would move mountains for the girl he loves. In this case, he takes her home to see Olive. Fayln realizes that she is taking away Taylor's option for children by choosing to be with her. She puts the relationship on a break, focusing Taylor to think about this big decision. The time apart drove Taylor to California to see his older brother, Thomas. In book two, we hear about Taylor's late night hook up. Fayln doesn't hear about that until Abby's and Travis's vow renewal weekend.

When you think Fayln and Taylor have finally worked out their issues, a bomb drops in. Taylor's California hook-up shows up in town and tells him he is a daddy!!! Definitely didn't see that coming. AND WOW the irony. Fayln thought she took away Taylor's future of having children with her and this happens! Of course, Fayln hearing this she walked away.

Months after months, Fayln and Taylor stayed apart until one night. Taylor's crew went missing during a fire. Of course, Taylor and his crew made it out but this event led to a proposal. Not shocking that Fayln said yes. The shocking part is that months later, she became pregnant and birth a baby girl. The happy couple raises Taylor's son and their baby girl together and the wedding is to come!

Between Fayln being Olive's birth mom, Taylor having a son with his California hook-up, and Fayln becoming pregnant after thinking it's never going to happen again -- two words for this book: BABY DRAMA!

Beautiful Burn

beautiful burn

Okay, I think I like book four better than the others! I was afraid the book was going to be the same as the other. Girl with a bad past cross path with the handsome badass boy. But instead this time, the girl Ellie has so many sides you don’t see coming!

Ellie is an heiress to billionaire tech. She is your typical rich party girl. Her parents finally had enough and cut her off. Focusing her to grow up and get a real job. A job that turned into a passion of hers. She starts following the fire crew around and taking photographs of the fire. Her work landed the magazine she works at on the map.

As she struggles to do better, she continues to surround herself at bars, parties, and bad influences. It was until she was on the floor of a store’s bathroom, asking help from the last person she thought she’ll ever speak to. After getting clean up and returning home, Tyler was there still waiting for her.

Throughout the journey, Tyler continues to fight for her and never leaving her side. The same day Ellie returned home from rehab, he proposed to her on the way home with her saying yes!!

Ellie knows some key things about Abby and Jim when she was around them. Telling Tyler that they probably know the twins don’t sell insurances. And that Thomas and Travis aren’t ad exec either. Tyler didn’t believe her until he got a text from his dad checking in (right after Taylor went missing during a fire). The book ends with Ellie setting a wedding date to marry Tyler!

I think I like this book best so far is because of how different Ellie is from Cami, Abby, Liis, and Falyn. Granted all girls have the issues but Ellie struggled with an addict with a twisted love life — having like both girls and boys, all while trying to love herself again.

A Beautiful Funeral

a beautiful funeral

Ohhhhh wow! I just finished the book, and I’m in tears. The ending was so sad, but perfect!

Let’s backtrack for a second. The book takes place eleven years after Abby and Travis eloped in Vegas. Each chapter was written into a different character’s view. Throughout the first few chapters, we learned that: Thomas’s baby girl was born, Thomas being hunted by Benny, Taylor and Falyn was fighting and didn’t live together and Falyn had the kids with her who resented the separation, Tyler was chief of his fire department and had a son with Ellie and still wasn’t married, Travis and Abby had another baby coming, and Trenton and Cami were trying to have a baby but couldn’t which caused depression for Cami.

Being hunted by Benny, Thomas has to fake his death in protecting his family. As the sibling rushes home and the delivery of Abby and Travis’s son, the news of Thomas’s was delivered by Liis. The family was hurt and broken about the lies Thomas and Travis told about their career.

Once it felt safe, Thomas returned home. The family gathered as the truth of Thomas’s fake death came out. Of course, the family was hurt by the dishonesties. However, the boys were able to fight it out like usual, and smiles were on their faces. When you told it was happily ever after, the Carlisi drove by gunning the family down. Olive was hit protecting Stella and passed away quickly. As Falyn cried over her daughter’s death, the Carlisi returned, and Jim took three shots, causing the car to swerved and go up in flames. Thomas and Travis found the father bleeding from the two gunshots and soon passed away in their arms.

The funeral chapter was told in Jim’s point of view, showing flashbacks of memories he had with Diane and each other the kids as they spoke kind words about Jim. In the end, Diane touched Jim and said, “I’ve been waiting for you.”

I cried so hard in the last chapter!! It was so sad to lose both Olive and Jim, but this was much needed. Knowing how the funeral went and that Jim finally connected back with his dear wife!
