The Couple Next Door
I am so excited to share with y'all a new series I am doing on the blog where I share my latest reads, reviews, and thoughts on books! This week I want to share my thoughts on The Couple Next Door. I am so late to the game when it comes to reading haha. It wasn’t until a month ago that I decided to start reading… oh well??♀️ Better late than never, right?? My goal this year is to read 100 books — at first, I thought it seems outrageous, but now after finishing my 6th books in last than a month, I feel like it’s a piece of cake!

the couple next door
After finishing Anna Todd's After Series, I thought I would read a mystery and had so many recommend The Couple Next Door. The first few chapters in, I already had a theory: Marco and Cynthia are having an affair because Marco is unhappy with his relationship with Anna but loves his baby so much that he knows if they were to split, Anna would take custody of the baby and he couldn't have that. Therefore, he fake kidnapped his baby, and with some time after he and Cynthia would run off together with Cora. I was off… by a lot haha! But that is why I love mystery books like this (also reminded me of The Girl On The Train), keeps me guessing until the end! It makes a great book, in my opinion!
I love how the book wasn't a one person's point of view — it shows the book from everyone's perspective. After hearing each person's perspective and theory, my original theory kept changing. Heck, at one point, I thought Anne killed her baby! When Marco told us that it was him who stage the kidnap, never in a million years would I've guessed that Anne's dad would take it a step farther so that he could have money after leaving his wife. But I think the part that got me going crazy is the very end. When Cora is back home, safe and sound, and Anne goes over to Cynthia to confront her about the affair with her dad, and it turns into Anne blacking out, Cynthia being dead, and Anne holding a knife covered in blood?? Like oh my gosh, WHAAAAAAT?!?!?! No happily ever after, I guess haha!!
Overall, I would recommend this book to every single soul out there! It is such an easy read and super entertaining! If you have read the book, comment below what you think!
