How to Improve your Instagram Feed

Oh my, oh my I think all millennial main concern on Instagram is the look of their feed. I consider myself as one and as a blogger, it plays into factor. But don’t let the look of your feed consume you. It should be fun and an outlet to express yourself. There are two routes you can take for your feed: first being a reflection of your life and the other is an interest. When you come to my Instagram, you will see my boyfriend and dog, my love of fashion and adventures. Now if you want to go the other route, your feed will only consist of that one interest — whether it’s traveling, food, dog, fashion, makeup, etc. Whatever you choose, you’ll want to be authentic and yourself.

Tell A Story

I like to think of Instagram as an open diary. A cute picture posted and a caption that tells you about my day or something that inspires. An Instagram post is like a mini blog post. You want to tell a story that hooks the audience and allows them to engage back! Now I am not talking about a short story kind of story, but more like a conversation among a friend. It doesn’t have to be something profound and moving, it could be about how your day is going or what you ended up doing. Also, I want to mention that not all my captions are a long story. Sometimes it is a few words or emojis and I let the images do the talking. Don’t overthink your caption, let it flow naturally.

Find Your Niche

What is a niche? This is an everyday word use in blogging but it means a specialty. It’s usually one to two words that describe your content. Here are a few examples: fashion, travel, sport, makeup, lifestyle, college, food, etc. For me, my niche is lifestyle. I have my life and fashion style mix into one category. As much as I am a fashion blogger, I like to incorporate life into it to make it more personal. Find something you love and consistently post about it!

Be YOU

Ah, this one is so cliche but so true. It doesn’t matter what you post or what you say if you are not YOU, it doesn’t matter. There are probably hundreds of people with the same niche as you and it can be tempting to copy them but DON’T!! Your audience chose to follow YOU because of who YOU are as a person.

Create Scroll-stopping Contents

It doesn’t matter if you have a fantastic caption, your picture determines the first impression — whether they continue to scroll or if they stop and engage. You only have a second or two to capture someone’s attention. How do you do this? For each photo I post, I take the time to edit them! I start by picking the right picture. Luckily for me, Zane takes 100 pictures for me to choose from. From there, I would go into lightroom and edit my photo with presets (I brought Emily’s preset). This allows us to enhance the photo and show our audience another creative side of us. Take the time to produce quality content!

Hopefully these tips are helpful to y’all!
