A Hue of Blu by Marie-France Legar Book Review

Going into A Hue of Blu by Marie-France Legar, I was skeptical that it would live up to the hype. However, after reading all 300 pages, I am blown away by the story. What I expected to be a classic tale of two damaged people falling in love was a surprising twist. The characters are not just relatable on a surface level; their struggles and emotions reach deep into your soul.

summary from the author:

How much pain are you willing to endure for someone you love?
Bold, charismatic, and charming Blu Henderson wears a fake smile every day, pushing through life because she has to – not because she wants to.

Quiet, introverted, and mysterious Jace Boland catches her eye the second she sees him. After that, it’s game over – not just for Blu, but for Jace as well.

Drawn together by inexplicable attraction, a whirlwind connection forms that persists and torments, mends and breaks, and forces both Blu and Jace to confront the traumas of their past while trying to make their relationship work.

“A Hue of Blu” explores how two broken hearts can find comfort in tragic losses, how two broken souls can find peace in pain, and how loving yourself may be the only way to love another…
No matter the consequence.

TW: Alcoholism, toxic relationships, mental health (specifically depression and BPD), body image, self-harm, mentions of OW/OM, and loss of a parent.

A Hue of Blu

★★★★★

Despite seeing a few sneak peeks on TikTok, the book still exceeded my expectations. It defies the typical toxic romance genre, taking the reader on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

“You fucked me up. And yet, you come back every time. Why? Why do you insist on doing this to me?”

His response may have been the most honest thing he’s ever said, and that terrified me. In one breath, he shattered my soul. “You let me.”

Marie-France Legar's writing is beautiful and poignant, with every word a direct line to the characters' thoughts and feelings. She has masterfully created complex and multidimensional characters, immersing readers in their world entirely.

A Hue of Blu is an extraordinary work of art that has touched my soul. It's been a while since I've read a book that has affected me deeply. Of the many books I've read, A Hue of Blu deserves a spot in my top 10. Thank you, Legar, for what I can only describe as a “soul-touching” read.
