Royal Elite Series

I am finally back with a new book talk on the latest I am reading: Royal Elite Series; which was discovered by “booksiveloved” on Instagram. I noticed that she likes almost the same type of books as me, which is romance books with a twist — more on the dark side. Warning, if dark romance is not your thing, you will hate this series and I recommend you avoid it like the plague!!

But if you are anything like me, you will love the trilogy of Aiden and Elsa (book 1-3) maybe enough to read it twice! This trilogy bears similarity to series like After, Maddox Brothers, and Beautiful.

Zane spoiled me with a Kindle and I have been loving reading on there! With the Kindle Paperwhite, it is so light-weight, no glare, and perfect to take with me everywhere. I did start a mini book library but realized that I am sending about 2-4 times as much verses ordering through the Kindle App.

I currently have 67 books I want to read in my GoodRead shelve. The nerd in me wanted to know the breakdown costs and if it was even worth getting a Kindle. The Kindle Paperwhite was $95 at Target and Amazon. Most digital books range from $2.99 to $15.99 (most I have seen). Paper books range from $10 to $20. Right there you can tell per book that digital is cheaper. But let’s factor in the cost of the Kindle Paperwhite.

The average cost of 67 digital books ($9.49 each) plus the Kindle is $730.83. The average cost of 67 paper books ($15) is $1,005. I am already saving about 27% plus I get to have all my books with me at any time. I highly recommend getting a Kindle and making the switch!

For all my Kindle readers, Royal Elite series is on Kindle Unlimited for free to read!

Deviant King

Deviant King

Holy moly, that had spiced!

Bad boy? check.
Innocent girl? check.
Sexual tension? check and double check.

Discovered this book on Kindle and when the author mentions dark romance… she really meant DARK! FYI, I do not suggest reading this if dark romance is not your thing. I didn’t think I was into it at all. But I’ve always been a fan of that “obsessive love”.

As stated in the title, Aiden King is one deviant person who has no boundaries and always gets his way! What he does to Elsa was awful, crazy, and somewhat on the criminal side. But yet, you still want to root for him.

You would think the king is the most important piece on the board, but the queen is the most powerful. And that right there is the relationship of Aiden and Elsa. She challenges him in ways that you can tell he has met his match.

Everyone has a past. But Elsa cannot seem to remember hers without the help of Aiden. Defiant King is just the beginning of a 3 book series! Hold on to your panties because this one leaves you on a cliffhanger!

PS., don’t be surprised if you finished it in one sitting because I sure did! 😉

Steel Princess

Rating: 5 out of 5.

With dark romance comes dark behaviors. As we dive deeper into the relationship of Aiden and Elsa, we tap into the mind of Aiden. Aiden is manipulative, obsessive, and most of all scary!

Rina Kent, the author, shows us possessive men that are heroes and even stronger women who are not afraid to stand up to them. Aiden is a sociopath, let just be real for a second. But as you soon discover, that possessive nature can be explained.

“Like he wants to shield you from the world. I don’t think you even notice it, but sometimes, he looks at you like he can’t breathe without you. And believe me, that’s not the King everyone knows.”

Twisted Kingdom

With trust destroyed, secrets to reveal, and a promise to be kept; this just got a whole lot spicy! The passion is all-consuming, beautiful, and even violent at times, these two cannot go without touching each other.

Rina Kent, the author, does a great job in letting the words flow off the pages and into your skin, feeling the need Aiden and Elsa have for each other. We get a peek inside the mind of Aiden King to confirm that he is a sociopath, but a sociopath who knows control.

With the help of Aiden and the stubbornness of Elsa, we unlocked the hidden memory that has been erased for the past ten years. A memory that led to a promise well kept!

“Aiden and I aren’t the darkness and the light. We both have tarnished minds and souls. But we’re not soulmates. We’re lost souls that fit in perfectly imperfect harmony.”

The following books are standalone and some contains triggers. Please read reviews and notes prior to reading book four and five. For a simple dark romance with barely any triggers, please stick with just the trilogy of Aiden and Elsa.

Black Knight

Rating: 3 out of 5.
black knight

Warning from Rina Kent’s note, “This book deals with depression, eating disorder and cutting. I trust you know your triggers before you proceed.”

Reading this book completed many holes that were left from the trilogy of Aiden and Elsa. We learn the history of the hatred between Kimberly and Xander. A hatred formed from a sandal learned by young Xander.

Half through the book, I enter one of the saddest and darkest moments of Kimberly’s life. To feel and understand the pain she has gone through is merely impossible. To know someone has felt that pain is heartbreaking.

Rina Kent did a fantastic job at letting her words draw pain from Kimberly’s and enter our emotions. To say I weep for her is an understatement; I brawled so hard. And at that moment, I hated Xander just as much as Kimberly did.

But in that same moment, everything shifts for them. A sandal that torn them apart became the reason they were brought back together.

“Like how much I hate you. I don’t. Or how much you’re nothing. You aren’t. Or how I can live without you. I can’t.”

Vicious Prince

Rating: 2 out of 5.
vicious prince

I am speechless. I can’t seem to gather my thoughts and express my feelings. I liked the trilogy of Aiden and Elsa and I thought Vicious Prince would be similar.

Would I recommend this book? No. I believe it’s too much even for me. This is a topic that crosses a line even if is fiction. To think book 3, Black Knight was a touchy subject; Vicious Prince is worst.

This book has two separate stories in my opinion. First, we have the story of Ronan and Teal. And second, the story of the past.

The first story follows suit with the last 4 books is this series. One of the four horsemen chases a woman is a challenge and intrigue. This part pulls me in to read.

But that quickly changed as we discover the story of the past.

The second story is filled with disgust, anger, and sadness. As mentioned by Rina Kent, this book contains molestation. I was extremely hesitant of wanting to continue reading this series. It brings me anger to know there is these type of bad people in the world. But because I was curious about the relationship between Ronan and Teal, I decided to give it a try.

Heads up that these chapters contain heavy details that may trigger you:

Chapter 28

Chapter 31-34

Ruthless Empire

Rating: 5 out of 5.
ruthless empire

Besides the trilogy of Aiden and Elsa, Ruthless Empire is my next favorite in the series. A dark bully young romance filled with forbidden love, ruthless enemies, and a plot twist that will have you on edge!

As I stayed up until 2 am to finish Ruthless Empire, Cole’s word enter my mind:

“I’ve always thought sleep is a waste of time. Why sleep when you can read?”

I couldn’t agree more with Cole. If I didn’t need sleep, I would read hundreds of novels and escape reality.

The story between Cole and Silver is consumed in raw intensity, craziness, and all the firsts.

“I want to be your first.”

“My first in what?”

My thumb wipes the moisture under her eyes. “In everything, Butterfly.”

“Then I want your firsts, too.” She juts her chin. “Promise me.”

“Promise.”

From the previous books, Rina Kent shows how quiet and calm Cole is while Silver was the queen B. I was under the impression that they were strictly step-siblings.

But that’s where we are wrong. Silver and Cole are nowhere near close to being siblings. A union of marriage caused that title. But nowhere in their mind, heart or soul did they ever considered that.

As the series comes to an end, Ruthless Empire answered many questions from even the first book (Deviant King). It showed Silver and Cole in a new light, and it explained their behaviors.

Their relationship has always been complicated from the start, but that never stopped them.

“Because she’s mine now.” My throat closes around the word. Mine. How long have I waited to say that out loud? Years. Fucking years.

Cruel King

Rating: 5 out of 5.
Cruel Prince

This book is a standalone from the series itself and classified as book #0.

Unrestrained power. Reckless behaviour. Corrupted wealth.

Rina Kent does it again with an epic story of Levi King and Astrid Clifford! May I say this might be my favorite in the series?! Forbidden love between the two families filled with hidden secrets.

It did not take long for these two to cross paths. With a hatred so intense, Astrid did everything in her power to avoid Levi. But you can never escape a King when he has set his eyes on you!

The princess can fight whatever we have all she wants, but I’ve already set my sights on her. She can run, but I’ll catch her every time. Hell, I’ll enjoy every minute of the chase, too. There will be no escaping the king’s grasp in his kingdom.

Astrid tries to be one of the “invisible” people of RES, while Levi was always in the spotlight as the football team captain and the wealthiest family. Though her status isn’t among the popular, she never backs down. As much as Levi pushes her, she pushes and challenges him even more.

I wasn’t born to bow. – Astrid

The thrill, the chase, the romance starts to build up. There is no escaping the grips of a king! It takes one taste for everything to change.

He’ll burn me. He’ll destroy me. But I’ll keep coming back for more, anyway.

There are so many obstacles in the way of these two; with issues at home and at school, it’s hard to put the book down. Let’s just say I have never read so fast before!

Cruel King is truly one of the best dark romance books ever! The characters are written so perfectly with a storyline that has you hooked immediately!

“Those who don’t play chess think the king is the strongest piece, because the game ends when he dies, but they don’t stop to think that if the queen dies first, the king doesn’t have a chance to survive.”

Royal Elite Epilogue

Rating: 4 out of 5.
royal elite epilogue

As much as I wanted more from the series and see where they end up, I noticed that a few of the chapters were repetitive epilogues from the main book itself. Despite that, I really enjoyed their happy ever after! I was so giddy with the group chats at the end, haha. It was the perfect way to end the series!

“I was lucky to find her and I’ll spend the rest of my life making her feel like the queen she has always been. Now and forever.”

“When I grow up, I’m going to marry you.”
“You can’t marry me.”
Her face contorts. “Why not?”
“Mum says you have to love someone to marry them.”
“Then you can just love me.” She throws her hand in the air. “What’s so hard about that?”

I knew this SERIES would be good and it certainly lived up to my expectations. Aiden and Elsa’s story has been quite a roller coaster ride. THE END IS SO GOOD!!!!!!!
